This series provides an ideal platform to study chess openings. By continually challenging the reader to answer probing questions throughout the book, the Move by Move format greatly encourages the learning and practising of vital skills just as much as the traditional assimilation of opening knowledge. Carefully selected questions and answers are designed to keep you actively involved and allow you to monitor your progress as you learn. This is an excellent way to study any chess opening and at the same time improve your general chess skills and knowledge.
The Winawer is a very popular choice amongst French Defence players. It enjoys a sound reputation and reaches positions rich in possibilities for both players. It offers Black the opportunity to enter sharp, dynamic lines, such as the notorious Poisoned Pawn Variation, as well as lines which are more strategic in nature. In this book, FIDE Master Steve Giddins invites you to join him in studying the French Winawer, an opening which he has played for over 25 years, and its many variations. He examines instructive games, covers the most important lines and provides answers to all the key questions.
  • Essential guidance and training in the French Winawer
  • Important ideas absorbed by continued practice
  • Utilizes an ideal approach to chess study

Tune Your Chess Tactics Antenna Know when (and where!) to look for winning combinations by Emmanuel Neiman

Información oficial:

If only life was as straightforward as a book of chess exercises! If only someone would tap you on the shoulder every time the moment to show your tactical skills has arrived!

However, the reality is that during a game you are on your own. Nobody will whisper in your ear when you have reached a position that is, in fact, a tactical puzzle and all you have to do is solve it.

Emmanuel Neiman offers help. He has identified a number of signals that tell you that somewhere in the position you are looking at there is a tactical blow just waiting to be found. What you need is a way to read those signals. What you need, and what Neiman helps you to acquire, is a Chess Tactics Antenna.
In this trail-blazing book, Emmanuel Neiman presents the seven main signals that help you to determine the moment you must start looking for a win. He also teaches you, with lots of instructive examples, how to interpret these signals and how to find the killer move.

The Chess Puzzle Book 4 Mastering the Positional Principles by Karsten Müller, Alexander Markgraf

Welcome to The Chess Puzzle Book 4! – It mostly deals with the important technical question of how to convert a static advantage.

As noted by Mark Dvoretsky in his Foreword: "I cannot think of any books with high-quality exercises regarding such topics as domination, the 'do not hurry' principle, the principle of two weaknesses, etc., all of which are discussed by Mueller and his co-author Alexander Markgraf ... I hope that you enjoy this new book by Müller and Markgraf and I encourage you to seriously study the positions discussed in the book. As a result, you will significantly progress in your understanding of chess and improve your results."

Topics include: Prophylaxis, The Principle of Two Weaknesses, The Right Exchange, Domination, Do Not Rush, and Converting an Advantage. There are also many well-chosen exercises with comprehensive solutions to help guide and instruct the reader.

The Chess Puzzle Book 4 is the fourth volume in the series formerly known as the ChessCafe Puzzle Books.

Dangerous Weapons: The Ruy Lopez Dazzle your Opponents by John Emms, Anthony Kosten, John Cox

Do you need to freshen up your chess openings?
Stun your opponents with new and exciting ideas!
Dangerous Weapons is a series of opening books which supply the reader with an abundance of hard-hitting ideas to revitalize his or her opening repertoire.
In this book, three opening experts team up and take a contemporary look at the Ruy Lopez, one of the most popular chess openings. Instead of analysing the well-trodden main lines they concentrate on fresh or little-explored variations, selecting a wealth of ‘dangerous’ options for both colours. Whether playing White or Black, a study of this book will leave you confident and fully-armed, and your opponents running for cover!
  • A modern study of the Ruy Lopez
  • Packed with original ideas and analysis
  • Ideal weapons to shock your opponents

Grandmaster Repertoire 11 - Beating 1.d4 Sidelines by Boris Avrukh

Most players are comfortable using their favourite defence against 1.d4 followed by c2-c4, but it is not always easy to find an antidote to the many sidelines at White’s disposal. From the bodacious Blackmar-Diemer Gambit, to the villainous Veresov, to fiendish fianchetto systems to the treacherous Trompowsky, Black must be ready to meet a whole array of slippery systems, each bringing its own unique dangers and challenges.
Grandmaster Repertoire 11 – Beating 1.d4 Sidelines provides a sound and active repertoire against virtually every non-standard opening line at White’s disposal after both 1.d4 d5 and 1.d4 Nf6. Where applicable, Avrukh covers each white system after both 2...e6 and 2...g6, making this book suitable for fans of the Nimzo-Indian, King’s Indian and Grünfeld defences alike.
Boris Avrukh is a grandmaster from Israel. He is an Olympiad gold medalist, former World Junior Champion and analysis partner of World Championship finalists.

Fighting Chess with Hikaru Nakamura A Chess Career in the Footsteps of Bobby Fischer by Karsten Müller, Raymund Stolze

This is the very first book to focus exclusively on Hikaru Nakamura, the greatest American chess player since the legendary Robert James Fischer. The book features a prologue penned by Lubomir Kavalek, who was none other than „Bobby’s“ insider and supporter at the „match of the century“ against Boris Spasski in 1972.In this book, grandmaster Karsten Müller from Hamburg and chess journalist Raymund Stolze from Berlin document the 24-year-old’s fascinating journey to the top of world chess. Interestingly, Hikaru was not a typical child prodigy, and at his first Junior World Championships didn’t even make it onto the winners’ podium. Although he won a World Cup medal aged just 13, today he creates true miracles.

Mastering Complex Endgames Practical Lessons on Critical Ideas & Plans by Daniel Naroditsky

Daniel Naroditsky has done it again! Following 'Mastering Positional Chess' the American chess prodigy has written an instructional book that is at least as ambitious as his acclaimed debut. Daniel has compiled a rich collection of practical endgame examples whose assessments require more than just standard theory.

In his fresh, yet surprisingly mature style, Naroditsky presents:

• lively and entertaining lessons
• crystal clear explanations of ideas and plans
• useful insights into the minds of chess masters
• great practical advice throughout the book
• instructive exercises at the end of each chapter
Naroditsky draws heavily on his own experience as a player and has no problem pointing out his own mistakes. His systematic approach and didactic skills help you to understand rather than just memorize these endings.

Rarely if ever before have the ideas that decide endings been explained so clearly. This book will take your endgame technique to the next level.
Daniel Naroditsky (1995) became the World Under-12 Chess Champion in 2007. With 'Mastering Positional Chess' (2010), he was the youngest published chess author in history. At 15, he became an International Master and participated in the US Chess Championship. He earned his first grandmaster norm in July 2011.

The Powerful Catalan A Complete Repertoire for White by Victor Bologan

The Catalan is a solid yet flexible chess opening system that is popular on all levels. Both amateurs and top-level strategists such as Vladimir Kramnik and Vishy Anand employ this opening to put a lot of unpleasant pressure on Black.

In The Powerful Catalan grandmaster Victor Bologan presents a complete repertoire for White that covers all of Black’s responses. Also included are those variations where Black tries to steer the game into other openings like the Queen’s Indian or the Tarrasch Defence.

The book is classically structured (starting with the rarest variations before moving on to the most popular ones) and contains original analysis of many recent tournament games. Bologan’s clearly formulated verbal explanations are essential for a good understanding of the strategic plans and the tactical themes of the Catalan.

Victor Bologan is a world-class grandmaster. He has won many tournaments, including the Aeroflot Open in Moscow and the Dortmund super-tournament.
He has written critically acclaimed opening books like The Chebanenko Slav and The Rossolimo Sicilian.
